South Korea Reports Russian Missile Supply to North Korea in Exchange for Troops.
South Korean authorities revealed that Russia has provided North Korea with anti-aircraft missiles and military equipment in exchange for North Korean troops supporting Russia’s war efforts in Ukraine.
South Korea’s National Security Director, Shin Wonsik, stated that at least 10,000 North Korean troops have been deployed to Russia to assist in the conflict with Ukraine. In return, Russia supplied anti-aircraft missiles and other equipment to bolster North Korea’s air defense system. Additionally, economic assistance was reportedly included in the deal.
Further reports from South Korea suggest that North Korea has shipped over 13,000 containers of artillery, conventional arms, and missiles to Russia, intensifying concerns about the nature and extent of the cooperation between these two nations.
South Korea has expressed apprehension over the possibility of Russia providing North Korea with sensitive nuclear and missile technology. Such advancements could potentially accelerate Pyongyang’s nuclear weapons program. This scenario, if confirmed, would significantly elevate the risks associated with their growing alliance.
