Lady Gaga Reflects on Love and Collaboration with Fiancé Michael Polansky
At the Los Angeles premiere of her upcoming film Joker: Folie à Deux, Lady Gaga shared exclusive insights with PEOPLE about the transformative effect her fiancé, Michael Polansky, has had on her life. The 38-year-old Grammy winner expressed how their relationship has evolved, stating, “When you are with your best friend, everything changes.”
Gaga and Polansky, who first made headlines in 2020, collaborated on her latest studio album, Harlequin, which serves as a companion piece to the film. Polansky took on the role of co-executive producer, marking a significant milestone in their partnership. “It just felt right,” Gaga remarked about their collaborative efforts, emphasizing their shared excitement and readiness.
Their journey together has been public since they were spotted together on New Year’s Eve in 2020. By July 2024, Gaga announced their engagement to French Prime Minister Gabriel Attal at the Paris Olympics. The couple has been making headlines not just for their personal relationship but also for their professional collaboration, with Polansky contributing to several tracks on Harlequin, including covers and two original songs, “Happy Mistake” and “Folie à Deux.”
Gaga also revealed that Polansky inspired her upcoming seventh album, which she affectionately calls her “LG 6.5” album. “He told me to make a new pop record,” she said, showcasing his supportive role in her creative process.
During a recent appearance on The Graham Norton Show, Gaga humorously recounted her initial reaction to Polansky’s proposal on April Fool’s Day, thinking it was a joke. She also expressed her excitement about starting a family together in the next 15 years, saying, “I’m so happy to be in love and I’m so excited to have a family.”
